It turns out that Kant has some interesting things to say about Swedenborg, actually, and also about the spirit world in general. He refers to the realm of shades as an unbounded land which visionaries can cultivate at their pleasure, which is perhaps a way of poking a little fun at the people who write about life after death; but at the same time the word unbounded confirms my intuition that the thing about the spirit world, the most important thing, maybe, is that it goes on and on…
